The 369 Method: How to Do the 369 Manifestation Method Step by Step
Quick answer: what is the 369 method?
The 369 method is a manifestation ritual: write one goal as a present-tense sentence 3 times in the morning, 6 times in the afternoon and 9 times at night, every day for 21, 33 or 45 days. It's a focus habit that keeps one goal in front of you three times a day.
How the 369 manifestation method works
You pick one goal, write it as one sentence and write that same sentence 18 times a day at three set times. Same goal, same words, every day.
Why three times a day helps
Three check-ins tie your goal to your morning, your afternoon and your night. That rhythm is a strong habit cue, and habits are what keep goals alive.
What the 369 method is not
It's not a spell and nobody has proven it changes the outside world on its own. Treat it as the warm-up for your day's work, not the whole workout.
Where the 369 method comes from: Tesla fact vs. legend
The method is linked to Nikola Tesla, the inventor behind the AC power system most of the world still uses. The link is part history and part legend.
What Tesla really wrote
In his 1919 memoir My Inventions, Tesla wrote that he counted his steps and that repeated acts had to be divisible by three. So he really did live by threes.
The famous 3, 6, 9 quote
It's never been proven he wrote these exact words, and some believe the record was simply lost, but to this day the world credits Tesla with saying: "If you only knew the magnificence of the 3, 6 and 9, then you would have a key to the universe."
When the writing method started
The 369 writing routine itself is modern. It spread on social media around 2020. Read more in our Tesla and 3-6-9 guide.
How to do the 369 method step by step
This takes under 10 minutes a day. Use a notebook you keep only for this.
Step 1: Pick one goal
Not ten, one. Pick the goal that would change the most if it came true in the next 90 days.
Step 2: Write one present-tense sentence
Write it as if it's already happening. Not "I want more clients," but "I am landing two new clients a month."
Step 3: Morning: write it 3 times
Do it soon after you wake up, before your phone fills your head with everyone else's plans.
Step 4: Afternoon: write it 6 times
Tie it to something you already do, like lunch or a coffee break, so you don't need an alarm.
Step 5: Night: write it 9 times
Do it before bed. Many people add 30 seconds of picturing the goal as done.
Step 6: Repeat for your full stretch
Same sentence, every day, for your chosen number of days. Then review what changed in your actions.
369 method examples by goal
A good 369 sentence is specific, present tense, positive and believable. If your gut laughs, scale it down and level up later.
369 examples for money and work
- "I am closing one new sale every week."
- "I am growing my income through work I'm proud of."
369 examples for fitness
- "I train four days a week and keep my word to myself."
- "I am getting stronger every week."
369 examples for confidence
- "I speak up in every meeting."
- "I am becoming a great closer, one call at a time."
How long to do the 369 method
There's no official rule. Most people pick one of three stretches.
21 days for a first try
Good for building the habit and learning what kind of sentence works for you.
33 days, the most popular choice
Long enough to feel the rhythm, short enough to finish.
45 days for a bigger goal
For a longer push. A finished 21 days beats an abandoned 45.
The upgrade most 369 guides skip: one action line
After each set of lines, write one action line: the next thing you'll do before your next check-in.
What action lines look like
- Morning: "Send three proposals."
- Afternoon: "Follow up with the two who opened."
- Night: "Prep tomorrow's list."
Why action lines matter
Eighteen goal lines keep the goal clear. Three action lines make it real. As Steve wrote in The Universe is Listening, the law of attraction is not a substitute for hard work and effort.
Common 369 method mistakes
These are the slip-ups we see most often when people start.
Changing the sentence every day
Keep the same words for your whole stretch. Changing them resets the habit.
Writing on autopilot
If you're just copying letters, slow down and picture each line for a second.
Skipping the afternoon set
The afternoon is the easiest set to forget. Tie it to lunch so it happens.
Does the 369 method work? The honest answer
No study has tested the 369 method itself, so no one can promise it brings money, love or anything else on its own.
What it does well
It keeps one goal top of mind, builds a daily habit and slows you down enough to mean what you write.
How to get the most from it
Treat it as a focus ritual and back it with action. That combination is what we teach at iManifest.

369 method FAQ
What do you write for the 369 method?
One short, present-tense sentence about one goal. Write it 3 times in the morning, 6 in the afternoon and 9 at night.
Can I do the 369 method for two goals?
You can, but one goal at a time gives better focus. Finish one stretch, then start the next.
What if I miss a day of the 369 method?
Start again the next day. Consistency matters more than a perfect record.
Did Tesla invent the 369 method?
No. Tesla did have a documented habit of threes, but the writing method is modern.
Do I have to write the 369 method by hand?
No, but handwriting slows you down and helps you mean it, so most people prefer it.
